Youth Tour to Washington
Each summer Dubois REC and other electric cooperatives sponsor the Rural Electric Cooperative's Youth Tour to Washington D.C. Students who are in their junior year of high school may submit an application to be chosen to attend this week-long tour of our nation's capital.

Liesl Eck of Jasper High School represented Dubois REC on the 2010 Youth Tour. This trip gives students the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. and learn about government and electric cooperatives. The tour began June 10 with a statehouse tour and orientation program in Indianapolis and ended on June 17 back in the Hoosier capital.

On the way to Washington, students visited the Civil War battlefield at Gettysburg as well as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. While in the nation’s capital, the delegates stopped by Arlington National Cemetery; the Lincoln, Jefferson and Vietnam memorials; and several other memorials and museums.
