| Each summer Dubois REC and other electric cooperatives sponsor the Rural Electric Cooperative's Youth Tour to Washington D.C. Students who are in their junior year of high school are chosen to attend this week-long tour of our nation's capital. An application can be downloaded here, and must be returned to to Dubois REC by Feb. 29.
This trip gives students the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. and learn about government and electric cooperatives. The 2012 tour will begin June 13 with a statehouse tour and orientation program in Indianapolis and will conclude on June 21 back in the Hoosier capital.
On the way to Washington, students visited the Civil War battlefield at Gettysburg as well as Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. While in the nation’s capital, the delegates stopped by Arlington National Cemetery; the Lincoln, Jefferson and Vietnam memorials; and several other memorials and museums.
